SouthPAC was started a few years back by native Southerners. We have been Southern Democrats our whole lives. In some cases, we come from generations of Southern Democrats, good, hard-working Southerners who taught us the values of family, freedom and public service, and that we all have to make a commitment to ideas, principles and policies that are larger than ourselves. We are Southern Democrats. We set up SouthPAC to facilitate networking among Democrats across the Southern states. We got tired of seeing well-heeled, well-funded Republicans win so many elections while railing on good Southerners like us and leaving so many Southerners behind. We know Southern Democrats in every state in the region, and we have a great appreciation for the state-by-state, candidate-by-candidate independent streak that runs through Southern Democrats. We also know that sometimes leaves us a little disconnected. SouthPAC aims to help link us together. We also set up SouthPAC to help Southern Democratic candidates with campaign contributions. To keep our contribution system as clear and clean as possible, we currently focus solely on hard money individual contributions to Southern Democratic Congressional candidates. SouthPAC is established as a non-affiliated political action committee with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), and we make sure that we keep things clean as a whistle.
